A promising start for Nicolas Aubin

The French Elite Championship kicked off on a radically modified track at Lacapelle Marival, where Nicolas made his return to MX2 after eleven seasons in MX1! Having left this category with the title of 2011 French Champion on his shoulders, Nicolas remembered everyone from the time trials where he signed an excellent third time in his group behind the two Husqvarna 'factory' riders who came as 'wild card' on this event.

Nicolas had a good start in the first race and was in fifth position when the race was stopped by a red flag due to an accident. He lost one place at the restart and finished the race in an encouraging sixth place. No time to rest after this first race, since Nico was taken by stomach pains and went to rest...in the toilet. Gutted he will not be able to line up at the start of the second round, he has two weeks ahead of him before the rendezvous in Castelnau de Lévis

Nicolas: "Opening of the season for me since I had not competed in any race, so I was a bit rusty even if I had prepared myself in my corner. Despite everything I set good times in the time trials where I finished third; I could not improve as I would have liked because of the traffic but it was good to be behind the two official Husqvarna! Before the first race I felt some pain in my stomach, but I had to go and I started 7/8 and came back fourth before the red flag. I started with a good rhythm, but after a few laps my arms hurt as it can happen in a first race and I lost my rhythm. Sixth place was an encouraging result, but unfortunately it was impossible to ride in the second race because the pain was so strong. I don't know if it's a cold, a stomach bug or food poisoning? I'm obviously disappointed, but also reassured by my speed and my times. See you in two weeks at the next race, in Castelnau de Lévis.
