EXCELLENT DEBUT IN WORLD ENDURO FOR ZACHARY PICHON
Just one year after he started his enduro career, Zachary Pichon signed a great feat by winning his first race in Italy. Never before has a Junior World Champion achieved such a performance!
Last weekend the Enduro World Championship opened in San Remo, Italy, where Zach is competing in the E1 World Championship after winning the Junior title last year. After two races in the Spanish championship that allowed him to sharpen his skills, the official Sherco rider started the World Championship with a bang, winning Saturday's race behind Spain's Josep Garcia, one of the world's best enduro riders. An achievement and a surprise for Zach who really enjoyed the Italian track. "Friday the super test went well, which is always a good sign, but I didn't expect such a result! In fact, on Saturday I did a great special stage, while Josep Garcia, who is the reference of the category, made a mistake; I took the lead of the race and I never let it go! I was a bit surprised by my times, which proves that the winter preparation was good," says Zachary, who will be a little less efficient on Sunday, marked by the efforts of the day before. "On Saturday I gave so much of myself to get this first victory until the last stage, that I was a bit down on Sunday where I always have trouble performing well from the start. The day started badly because a stone got stuck in the transmission on the first stage, so I lost 15 seconds! I still came back to second place before the last stage, but the gaps were small and I gave it my all and went off. I should have made sure of the result, it's the job that comes in, but it spoiled the fun a bit," continued Zach, who nevertheless did an excellent job, since after this first GP he is second in the E1 championship and sixth in the overall classification, which includes all categories.
The next month will be mainly dedicated to training, the next Grand Prix being scheduled on May 6th and 7th in Spain. But in the meantime, Zach will still take his place behind a starting grid for fun, as he is engaged on Easter Monday in a race at Thomer la Sogne where he will ride a 250 Sherco two stroke. Passion, when you hold us!
